Refund policy
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, when we offer refunds, and how to ask for one.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our courses, programs, tools and team licences come with consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. When you buy services from us, they must be provided with acceptable care and skill, be reasonably fit for any purpose you made known to us, and be delivered within a reasonable time if no time is agreed.
If we fail to meet one of the consumer guarantees, the remedy depends on whether the failure is major or minor:
- Major failure. You can cancel the service and receive a refund for the unused portion, or keep it and receive compensation for the drop in its value. A failure is major if, for example, a reasonable consumer would not have bought the service had they known about the problem, or the service is substantially unfit for its usual purpose and cannot easily be fixed within a reasonable time.
- Minor failure. We will fix the problem within a reasonable time, for example by correcting faulty course content or restoring access. If we do not, you can have it fixed elsewhere and recover reasonable costs, or cancel and get a refund for the unused portion.
You may also be entitled to compensation for other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage caused by a failure. Nothing in this policy limits these rights.
Examples of when we will refund
- A technical fault on our side stops you accessing or completing a course and we cannot fix it within a reasonable time.
- A course is materially different from its description on the course page.
- You were charged twice, or charged the wrong amount, for the same purchase.
- We withdraw a course you have bought and not yet completed, and you do not want a comparable alternative.
Change of mind
The law does not require a refund if you simply change your mind. However, if you bought a course by mistake or no longer need it, contact us within 14 days of purchase. If you have not started the course, we will refund you or transfer the purchase to a different course of equal value. Once you have started a course or downloaded its materials, change-of-mind refunds are at our discretion. This does not affect your rights under the consumer guarantees described above.
Please choose carefully if you are buying a course for a regulatory matter. We cannot refund a course because a Board, panel, tribunal or employer decided not to accept it or did not give it the weight you hoped for, as no course can guarantee any regulatory outcome. Ask your indemnity insurer, medical defence organisation or lawyer about suitability before you buy. Our FAQ and notification help page explain more.
How to ask for a refund
Email us
Write to support@practitionerethics.com from the email address on your account, with your order reference and the course concerned.
Tell us what went wrong
Describe the problem and, for technical issues, the device and browser you used. Screenshots help.
We review and respond
We will look into your request promptly and tell you the outcome, including our reasons if we cannot help.
Refund to your original payment
Approved refunds are paid to the payment method you used. Processing times depend on your bank or card provider.
Team licences and bulk purchases
Refunds for team licences and bulk purchases are handled with the organisation or person who paid. Unallocated places can be refunded or transferred on request within the same 14-day period, and the consumer guarantees apply to team purchases to the extent the law provides. Any written agreement with your organisation applies in addition to this policy.
If a refund is given for a course you have completed, the certificate for that course may be withdrawn. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your request, you can contact your state or territory consumer protection agency. See also our terms and conditions.
