Why tools, not just courses

Learning only changes practice when it is planned, reflected on and recorded. Every National Board's CPD registration standard asks practitioners, in one form or another, to plan their learning against their scope of practice, complete activities, reflect on what changed and keep records that would stand up to an audit. Practitioners going through a notification or complying with conditions face a more demanding version of the same task: they must show insight, learning and change in writing, supported by evidence.

Our tools are built for exactly those jobs. The free tools help you plan hours, draft a reflective statement and find suitable courses. The paid tools live in the student portal and keep your plan, log, reflections and evidence together for the year, or for the life of a remediation process.

Courses that teach the skills behind the tools

The tools are most useful when you understand what good reflection, insight and remediation look like.

Each paid tool includes 12 months of access in your portal and exports your work so you always keep a copy.

How the tools work with courses

Each course ends with a written reflective account and an assessment, and passing the assessment issues a certificate. If you use the CPD Portfolio, completed courses can be added to your log with their certificate attached, so you only need to add the actual time you spent and your reflection. The Reflective Practice Workbook uses the same models taught in our course on reflective practice and writing a reflective statement, and the Remediation Evidence Portfolio follows the approach set out in remediation for health practitioners.

None of the tools submit anything to Ahpra or a Board on your behalf. They help you organise and write your own material, which you then use as you, and your advisers, decide.

Who uses which tool

Practitioners keeping routine CPD in order

If your aim is a calm renewal and an audit you would not worry about, start with the free planner to set your hours, then use the CPD Portfolio through the year. Reflection is the part most often missing from CPD records, so a short entry in the workbook or the portfolio after each activity pays off later.

Practitioners asked to reflect in writing

Employers, supervisors and regulators increasingly ask for written reflection after incidents, complaints or education. The free template gives you a sound structure for a single statement. The workbook suits people who want to build the habit and keep reflections organised over months.

Practitioners responding to a concern

If you are dealing with a notification, a complaint or conditions, get advice from your indemnity insurer, defence organisation or lawyer first. Then the course finder helps you choose relevant education, and the Remediation Evidence Portfolio helps you plan and evidence learning and change in a way your adviser can review. Our notification guide explains where these fit in the process.

Managers and supervisors

Managers who assign courses to staff use the dashboard that comes with team licences rather than these personal tools. Individual practitioners keep their own portfolio and reflections, which remain private to them.

Frequently asked questions

Are the free tools really free?

Yes. The CPD hours planner, the reflective statement template and the course finder are free to use without an account.

Where is my information stored in the free tools?

The free tools run in your browser. What you type stays on your device unless you choose to download or copy it. Clearing your browser data will remove it, so download a copy if you want to keep your work.

How long can I use a paid tool?

Each paid tool includes 12 months of access in the student portal. You can export your work at any time, so you keep a copy after access ends.

Do the tools make my CPD compliant?

No tool can do that on its own. Compliance depends on completing CPD that meets your Board's standard and keeping proper records. The tools help you plan, record and reflect; you remain responsible for meeting your Board's requirements.

Is the CPD Portfolio a CPD home for doctors?

No. Doctors must belong to a CPD home under the Medical Board's standard. You can use the portfolio to organise your own records and evidence, and log activities with your CPD home as it requires.

Can I use the Remediation Evidence Portfolio without a notification?

Yes. Some practitioners use it after an employer concern, an incident review or a complaint that did not reach the regulator, to plan and evidence learning in a structured way.

Do the tools carry regulator endorsement?

No. Like our courses, the tools are independent and are not accredited and not approved by Ahpra or any National Board.
